Dr. Shelley

Dr. Shelley is the founder of Child Focused Consulting Company and the Ni’jah Monifa Literacy Center. Both provide literacy instruction in underserved communities and urban schools.

Her educational background includes earning a Bachelor of Science Degree, Master Degree in Curriculum and Instruction Elementary Education, and Doctor of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction - Teacher Education.

She has served as a teacher, National Youth Coordinator, University Supervisor of Student Teachers, Assistant Professor and Director of Field Experiences in the Department of Urban Education at the University of Houston Downtown, Elementary School Principal of M. L. Winans Academy of Performing Arts, Wayne Regional Education Service Agency English Language Arts Coach, and Certified Direct Instruction Trainer. 

She is the author of several books and educational articles, as well as, co-writer of book chapters on topics of teacher education.
