Jennifer

Jennifer Shelton is a lifelong educator with more than 53 years of service and dedication to Detroit’s Children. Her 40-year career in Detroit Public Schools (DPS) included leadership roles at Ludington Magnet Middle School, where she was Assistant Principal from 1981-97 and Principal from 1997-2008. She was a DPS English Language Arts Reading Specialist serving multiple elementary and middle schools from 1978-80. She began her career in 1968 as a primary teacher at Edmonson Elementary and moved to Vetal Middle School in 1975, where she taught English Language Arts through 1978. Since her retirement from DPS in 2008, Jennifer has remained active in education, serving as an ELA Instructional Coach with the Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators (MAISA). She also served as a Field Instructor for the University of Michigan Teach for America program. She also served as a School Improvement Facilitator for the Wayne County Regional Educational Service Agency (WCRESA) from 2008-2021.
